  Classroom requirements

Mandatory dress code:

Scrubs, Closed toed shoes, Hair up, Nails short, Mask or face covering at all times.

Be prepared to:

 

Participate in all labs. Complete the health questionnaire online before each class and have your temperature checked.

WEEK 1 Intro to Dentistry and Infection Control

Week 1 Lecture (Three lectures)

OSHA, Infection Control, & Intro to Dentistry. August 3rd-8th log into the student portal to review and take notes on our online lecture and lab videos.

 

Thursday, August 6th at 8:30pm-9:30pm virtual lecture discussion. I will email the link to the Microsoft teams meeting room. Try to log into it early in the day to make sure you can get on.

LAB in class Saturday  

Saturday, August 8th In person Lab: Charting, tooth anatomy, tooth numbers, tour equipment and office. Practice room break down and spray wipe spray. PPE review and practice suctioning on Dexter. (do not forget about the dress code)

Read Ch 2, 3, 8-14 & 19-20 Modern Dental Assisting textbook.

LAB in class Saturday  

Saturday, August 15th Set up for Coronal Polish, Composite/Amalgam to practice instrument name and transfer, handpiece maintenance, loading syringe, rubber dam set up and placement, HVE placement and practice.

Radiology Safety and Practice & Medical Emergency Training, Vitals and Nitrous Oxide – August 17th -29th log into the student portal to review and take notes on our online lecture and lab videos.

Labs in class: Week 3 Saturday, August 22nd FMX placement/practice on Dexter and partner, radiology safety, identifying x-rays and tooth numbers. Repeat any previous labs. You will need a total of 5 FMXs to complete radiology exam.  Week 4 Saturday, August 29th. FMX practice, learn to take vitals, practice re-capping syringe; tour medical emergency equipment, tour set up for Nitrous Oxide. Work on Models. Practice HVE Placement, instrument transfer and names.

NO LECTURE. Radiology final. Complete FMX in under 20 minutes. September 28th-October 3rd log into the student portal to review and take notes on our online lecture and lab videos of previous weeks to prepare for final exam.

Lab in class: Saturday October 3rd Complete Radiology Final/CPR. You will be scheduled with your partner an individual time on that Saturday’s lab Return textbook, sign off on textbook log, Lab sheets DUE.
   
  All homework and quizzes completed. Study for Final exam, watch lab videos and finish resumes. You are welcome to bring in your resume for help, please print it before you come.
   

Week 10 Final Exam and Graduation

Final Exam NO LECTURE.  October 5th-10th

Certificates Certificates will be handed out after final grades are in on the same day as your final exam. Your final grades will be emailed.
